NEW TO YOGA?
Welcome to the practice. We are so happy you made it here. The yoga practice draws people for a variety of reasons. At The Soul’s Song we hope to make your experience as easy as possible.

What if I’m not flexible?
Welcome to yoga! This is a practice that helps you develop flexibility as well as strength. You don’t have to come to the practice already flexible. Come as you are. We like you as-is.
When should I arrive?
Our studio policy is to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to class. This gives you time to put things down, turn off your phone and settle into the space on your mat. We do not allow admittance to classes beyond 5 minutes after class has begun. Settling into class and leaving the world outside takes some grounding time. It’s a sacred and necessary moment. When folks come late to class, it is a disruption. We don’t want that for anyone.
Who can practice yoga?
Anyone. Literally. Any size, any ability, any age, any color, any spectrum. Yoga is much more than physical postures. It is breath, meditation and mindfulness, it is movement with intention. At the end of the day, if you stay present and aware of your actions and those around you, you are practicing yoga. The Soul’s Song in an inclusive and safe space. Everyone is welcome.

Which classes do I take?
- We recommend starting with classes like Pure Restorative, Healing Yoga and Mindful Movement. That being said we really put a lot of effort into making our classes approachable for as many folks as possible. You are welcome to attend any of our classes. Talk to the instructor prior to class, let them know you are new and they will all take good care of you.
What do I wear?
- It is most important that you are comfortable. Wear clothing that moves easily. Sometimes your head is below your hips. Just know that a baggy tank or t-shirt might follow gravity and find its way closer to your head than your hips. Barefoot is best, so park your shoes in the lobby. However if they are needed for some reason, please let us know. We ask that you wear freshly laundered clothing for hopefully obvious reasons ;-)
Do I need a mat?
- A yoga mat will eventually become a worthy investment. But until you are ready to make that commitment, feel free to use one of our mats.
