NEW TO REIKI?

How do I say it?
Great question. Ray kee
What is Reiki?
Reiki is an energetic practice. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. The word Reiki is made of two words - Rei which means “the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." Here’s a way to think about it. When you rub your hands together vigorously and then place them on somebody, they are noticeably warmer, as though you’ve “charged” them with heat. A Reiki practitioner is “charged” so to speak with energy in an attunement with their teacher. They then possess the ability to move that energy in a way that is healing to others.
What happens in a treatment?
Reiki treatment is typically done on a chair or a Reiki table. The client is fully clothed and the practitioner uses their hands to deliver the energy of Reiki. Reiki can be delivered with or without touch, either at the practitioner's clinic or from a distance. A full-body treatment lasts from 45 minutes to one hour; a partial treatment lasts 30 minutes. The practitioner works on both the front and back of the body, placing the hands on specific body centers, to release and balance the energies of the chakras and heal the client on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.
What does Reiki feel like?
During treatment, the client usually finds a state of deep relaxation and peace. They may feel warmth or tingling sensations and often say that they feel energy moving throughout their body as energy is transferred through the practitioner to the client. As a session ends, the client usually feels very relaxed and energized. Insights may also arise to help you understand your healing process. Healing will continue from several hours to several days as the client's body adjusts to the new balance that Reiki brings. Clients should drink water to help the body flush out any toxins that may have been released during the session, and avoid alcohol and other intoxicants for at least 24 hours following treatment.
Can Reiki hurt me?
No. There is no pain associated with Reiki. It is a very gentle energetic practice that is intended only for good. However, sometimes, as with any body work practice, a release of tension or difficult emotions can leave the client feeling drained or slightly uncomfortable. Those feelings will give way to release and peace.
How do I begin?
You will start with the Reiki Consultation. This is a 90-minute meeting where you discuss what brought you to Reiki. This first meeting will guide the practitioner to understand how you personally need to be treated. After that consultation, you have several options at The Soul’s Song for Reiki treatments and services.
